Amia Trujillo amia_trujillo@csumb.edu
Legislative Director
My name is Amia, it is pronounced Uh-mee-uh. I am currently a sophomore at CSUMB and I am delighted to be involved with Associated Students this year. I am from the small town of Gilroy, CA. Yes, that's right, the Garlic Capital of the World! The Monterey Bay is a beautiful area and I feel fortunate to be able to live here while getting my college education. I enjoy going down to the Fisherman's Wharf, downtown Monterey, and Cannery Row; just to name a few of my favorite places around the peninsula. I am a strong believer of earning a college degree. The value of a college education has been instilled in me since birth. The CSUMB vision is one I strive to uphold. I truly enjoy learning and for the most part am very excited to attend class every day. I have decided to take the daunting challenge of majoring in Biology. My future goals are to attend graduate school in the East Coast and study medicine. I would love to live in New York City. But for now my goals include staying focused in my academics and contributing to the success of A.S. I hope as a team we will finally be able to bridge the gap between faculty, students, and A.S. As Chair of the Internal Affairs Committee I hope to resolve problems A.S. may face and create fair solutions as a team. I am excited for this academic school year and hope to achieve unity among the CSUMB community.

Kyle Haggmark kyle_haggmark@csumb.edu
Otter Student Union Chair
It was a bleak and gloomy time. The Otter Student Union was on the verge of collapse. Only a handful remained to fight for a cause that our predecessors fought for. The OSU is at a key turning point. The BBC Debt has been repaid, and now we must plan for a future that involves a student union in the schools master plan and vision. Kyle Haggmark is leading this charge, and will stop at nothing to see the dreams realized. The Students Stand United, We Want a Union.

Senator At-large
Little bit about myself. Love to go fishing, grew up in Bodega Bay (70miles north of SF on the coast) on the charter boats. Currently I am working on a writing and art major which has definitely influenced what I have been advocating on A.S.
In Associated Students I am your Senator At Large. I represent the students on campus and I am in A.S. to try and make student life better. Currently I attend the Student Fee Administration Committee, where all the fees that you get charged either get approved or denied. I have also been working closely with Josh Reed-Doyle, the Technology Senator on campus, to create a more student friendly internet environment which will hopefully bring awareness to a lot of students.
As a student if you have any concern at all feel free to contact me, I may not be able to directly solve all problems but I can and will put you in contact with the person or resources you do need.

Hayley Azevedo haley_azevedo@csumb.edu
Senator At-large
I'm from IL, but I have moved 12+ times. I transferred to CSUMB as a Sophomore in Fall '06. Previously, I attended Arizona State University, where I was involved in Greek Life on campus. I feel that involvement and interaction is a key factor that can make or break a students entire college experience. I am very dedicated to ensure that the students are able to take something with them when they leave this school. That they are able to say that they enjoyed their experience here, and they learned a lot from it.

Vincent Carr vincent_carr@csumb.edu
Senator At-large
I am a Sophomore who graduated from Portola High School in 2007. I grew up in the small town of Portola, California, population around 2,400. My graduating class was 54 and I played football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. I am a returning member of the CSUMB Cross-Country team and a member of the Blue Crue. I enjoy running, anything to do with the beach, playing basketball, playing Rock Band, and rockin Building 205.
I enjoy being involved in my school and community. I wanted to be involved in AS because I wanted to make a positive impact on CSUMB. Too often I hear negative comments about our school and I want to stifle those remarks. I want people to take pride in this wonderful school and for more people to be involved in students activities. For those who say there is nothing to do, I want it to be because they choose not to do it.

Marie Bautista marienellie_bautista@csumb.edu Community Affairs Represesntative
My name is MarieNellie Jocelyn Bautista. Friends call me "Marie." I was born in Manila, Philippines and grew up in Cebu in the Visayan Islands. When I first came to the U. S., I was an international student but before I finished my first BA degree program, I immediately began working for the US Navy. Then, upon leaving the military life, I worked for the Department of Defense and the State Department.
A senior student in Human Communication, I am currently finishing my Peace Studies program. On my free time, I tutor for literacy for the READ Program with Monterey County Libraries and am active with NAPF and NCBI. I love poetry, yoga, meditation, fishing, hiking, languages, a violin playing, the soft gentle touch of the summer rain, accordion sounds in the twilight, the rumble of distant trains, poems about the pale blue sky and rare rainbows in california, the pine trees of monterey, smiles of newborn babies, and baby's breath on my foliage collection.
What interests me about being the AS Community Affairs Representative is the hope that AS will be able to reach out to the majority of the CSUMB student population and be able to design some exciting activities to give our students an identity of their own. Upon listening to the various City Council meetings (Seaside, Marina, and Monterey), I intend to share all important findings that are useful and pertinent toward our goals. To this end, I would like to say "Have a wonderful academic year! Peace!" |

Ron Grant ronald_grant@csumb.edu
Personnel Chair
I'm Ron, I'm from Oakland. I'm a writer. I write songs, poems, and novels. I joined AS this year because I want to fix the CSUMB AS Elections, and to make sure we never have another year(s), like we have had for the last few years, and to make everything run smoothly. I like getting things done, and after meeting my colleagues last semester, while I was on the Election Committee, I knew that I would have a good time working with them, and I am!
